By the way: If you buy the fish for your sushi you should in any case make sure that it is fresh. Buy it on the day you are planning on making sushi. Frozen fish is ok as well, but it might not taste as good as the fresh one.

As there are lots of recipes for sushi I would recommend buying a sushi-recipe-book. In many of the preparing is not only described in detail but also presented with pictures. This makes it a lot easier. For those who just can’t wait – here is an example:

  • 1 bag of Japanese sticky rice
  • fresh salmon filet
  • Wasabi
  • Soysauce
  • Ginger (if you like)
  1. Prepare the rice the way it is described on the back of the bag.
  2. After the rice has cooled down you can form small rectangles with it
  3. Put a piece of salmon on each rectangle
  4. Give some soysauce into a small bowl and mix some wasabi into it
  5. Now dip the sushi into it and … eat it.

That wasn’t too hard, right? Too simple? Alright, here you go:

In addition to the ingredients that you needed for the sushi above you need some Norialga.

  1. Put one of the alga leaves on the bamboo mat and equally spread rice on it.
  2. Place some stripes of salmon in the middle. (Instead of salmon you could of course use any other fish or vegetable or even in addition to the salmon)
  3. With the help of the mat roll and press it so that you have a long roll of alga with rice in it and salmon or whatever in the middle
  4. Cut the roll in about 4 equivalent pieces.
  5. Dip and enjoy…:-)
